I still believe that you always find the best places accidentally, and since I live in London I've had the confirmation of my theory.

That's what happened to me and my friends last week, indeed, looking for a place to have lunch. We were just coming back from a walk in Hyde Park and we noticed this small and hidden restaurant in a street right behind Oxford St. and we decided to see what was inside..

From the beginning I was surprised by the design of the tables: a shining and elegant white marble that gives a simple and plain image, but with a touch of colour given by a bunch of flowers in the middle of the table.

On the walls (white and plain as well) the details are given by pictures of coloured fishes, that remind to what the restaurant offers in the menu.

Just after my visit to The Mayfair Chippy I found out that they are winners of many awards (AA Rosette Award, National Fish and Chips award 2017, The Food Awards London 2016) and they have been cited in the Micheline Guide in 2014, as well as in many other press releases during the last years!

Regarding the quality of the food I have to say that was really good.

I've ordered a cod fish and chips, that was crispy and really soft inside.

By the way, I went there especially to eat the typical fish and chips, but the menu offers different alternatives, from the classics British dishes, like pies and puddings, to fish specialities, like oysters, crubs and mussels.

I'll go back for sure to give them a try!

MY RATING:

Prices in accordance to the quality of the food, the location and the position of the restaurant.

The service, to be honest was good, but not great, I would have appreciate a more welcoming attitude an more smiles, but overall it has been a good experience, and I would recommend this restaurant in central London for a good and traditional lunch.
